Vessel Commander or Ship’s Master

Course Description: These courses are designed to teach you the competence to be in overall command of the vessel, having full responsibility for the crew, ship handling, the cargo, passengers and the safety of the vessel. The Master manages the ship and all onboard administration and normally keeps the ships records. The Master is responsible for dealings with the shore authorities and ports on matters such as health and safety.
Duration: 90-100 Days
Entry Requirements: Consist of, but are not limited to, SAMSA medical certificate, eyesight test, seaman’s book and sea service. Proof of ancillary courses to be provided, or alternatively attended at SSTG. English proficiency is a must, with Mathematics and Science at Grade 12 (between 50 and 60%) as beneficial.
