Qualify to skipper a vessel beyond the 200-mile limit
Course Description: ‘Unlimited Waters Command Course’, previously known as High Seas Command, entitles you to safely navigate outside the 200 mile limit from shore. Skippers sailing in these waters require a specific skill-set to safely operate their vessel. The ‘Unlimited Waters Command Course’ deals with a wide range of subjects to ensure that we achieve this objective. Some of the subjects covered in this course are: Chart work, Celestial Navigation, Marine Environmental Studies, Naval Architecture etc.
Duration: 80 Days (subject to change with new Regulations)
Entry Requirements: Consist of, but are not limited to, SAMSA medical certificate, eyesight test, seaman’s book and sea service. Proof of ancillary courses to be provided, or alternatively attended at SSTG. English proficiency is a must, with Mathematics and Science at Grade 12 (between 50 and 60%) as beneficial.
Additional Requirements: We have classrooms to accommodate a maximum of 20learners in one classroom. We include a light lunch with this course.
Accreditation: SAMSA application in progress as per proposed STCW-F.
