First Aid Level 1 – Basic First Aid Course

Course Description: All employers ashore who employ more than 16 employees are required to have a qualified first aider on-site. This course, accredited by the Department of Labour, will teach the learner basic first aid skills to fulfil the role of the on-site medical person. Focus is placed on CPR, Primary Surveys and attending to basic wounds. This would be your first aid and first practice to medical energy to comply with the OSH Act.

Learning Objectives: The Department of Labour prescribes that the learner should have the following knowledge and practical skills at the end of the course:
- Prevent accidents through the development of safety-oriented life style
- Recognise when first aid is needed
- Provide basic First Aid treatment at the scene of an accident or sudden illness with confidence in a prompt, safe and effective way until the Emergency Medical Services arrive, if needed
- Primary Survey
- Bandage and splints

Accreditation: Department of Labour Partner Accreditation. Certificate should be renewed every 3 years.
