Fishing Safety Course – Fishing Vessel Safety Training

Course Description: This course is designed to train skippers (captains) and crew to ensure that they safely perform their duties onboard various types of fishing vessels utilising different fishing methods. To improve health and safety conditions onboard coastal and overseas fishing vessels in order to prevent fatalities, and reduce injuries, ill health and risk while providing guidance on good practices that can be introduced to improve safety working and living conditions onboard fishing vessels.

Learning Objectives: The SAMSA matrix prescribes that the learner should have the following knowledge and practical skills at the end of the course utilize:
- Prepare ship and equipment for fishing operations
- The process of handling fishing gear
- Stowing the catch and general safety
- He process of handling fishing gear / catch stowage
Additional Requirements: None
Accreditation: Accreditation through SAMSA. STCW 78 as amended in 2010 with the Manila amendments. Certificate valid for a life-time.
