Vessel Compliance Audits

Vessel Compliance Audits

SSTG offers a comprehensive range of risk and compliance audit services to our clients. These auditing services play a crucial role in supporting our Safety Management System in a very targeted manner. Merely having an SMS onboard your vessel does not automatically ensure compliance, as many systems and processes may be lacking due to improper implementation.

To address this, we have opted to provide participating vessels with free access to our SMS. This approach allows us to concentrate on assisting our clients with implementation through compliance audits, ensuring that the SMS is fully utilized and that the company progresses towards higher levels of compliance while enhancing Health & Safety standards onboard. Our auditing services are also accessible to non-participating companies.

We assist with fishing vessel compliance audits.

Our Compliance Audits

Through our compliance audits, we aim to identify as many risks as possible, enabling our clients to make well-informed decisions regarding their current tasks. Our audits encompass a comprehensive sampling and auditing system consisting of over 600 points, which we have developed and tested since 2013. This system allows us to thoroughly assess the level of compliance and implementation of any Safety Management System (SMS) and assist with challenges.

During the audit process, we engage with various stakeholders, including the Skipper, Mate, Engineer, Safety officer, and Shore representative, to gain a comprehensive understanding of every aspect of the vessel. We provide coaching and guidance on relevant legislation throughout the audit, assisting the crew in implementing necessary systems. Our audits extend to both the vessel and the shore-based company, with a keen focus on the applicable legislation dictated by your Flag state.

What is contained in the Reports

  3. Medium Priority List – Referenced to the question, legislation and an easy way to close out the finding
  4. Low Priority List – Referenced to the question, legislation and an easy way to close out the finding
  5. Detailed score sheet – This can be evaluated by the Skipper and Superintendents to determine where the risks are for action.
  6. Photo List – Photos of the most prominent risks

    Vessel Auditors

The auditors have years of experience in the fishing industry and produce the reports within 3-5 days after the audit has been conducted. They are available to discuss the audit results with you at any stage, follow up on findings or guide you on difficult-to-rectify situations.

Even if you are not sure if this will work for you, consider the following:
    • We have not lost a client since 2013
    • Let us come and do the first audit for you and then you can make an informed decision.
    • You will now have a tool to measure the performance of every vessel as well as the shore-based staff.
    • Conducting our audits before Surveys and certification has proven to reduce downtime and improve the safety and efficiency of the vessel.
